How To Manage Panic Attacks
I will never forget my very first severe panic attack. I was sitting in my room recovering from a massive hangover, when suddenly, my heart started beating incredibly fast. I had the worst case of cotton mouth, my hands became clammy, and I was sweating profusely in an air-conditioned room. I thought I was literally having a heart attack! Its funny how we are so quick to diagnose ourselves with the least likely conditions, but I suppose all rational leaves the building when we’re in a panic.
I was later diagnosed with a panic attack disorder. However knowing I had it did not make dealing with it any easier. My anxiety would flare up at the worst times, and would result in this very debilitating experience.
After years of excruciating discomfort, I came to a point where I did not want to be at the mercy of this ailment anymore, and decided it was time to take the necessary steps to manage these attacks. I applied different methods and resources along my journey to healing, below is a list of some of the ways I applied to help me better manage my panic attacks.
Today I am drastically transformed. Not only has the frequency of my attacks reduced significantly, but the severity of the episodes has decreased too.
Even though days may be different, and I am still prone to flare ups now and again, I am still more calm and collected now then I have ever been in my life.
