Still Waters: Safe to Breathe

There are seasons when breathing feels heavy — not because your lungs can’t function, but because your heart feels full. Full of responsibility. Full of questions. Full of quiet worries that surface the moment everything goes still.
And then Scripture whispers:
“In peace I will lie down and sleep, for You alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8
It doesn’t say, when everything is resolved. It doesn’t say, when life makes sense.
It says, in peace. Peace isn’t the result of control. It’s the result of trust. It’s the soft surrender that says, “God, You are awake even when I close my eyes.”
Peace doesn’t rush you. It doesn’t force silence over chaos. It arrives quietly — like a deep breath you didn’t realize you were holding. God does not demand that you calm yourself before you come to Him.
He becomes your calm.
He becomes your safety.
Tonight, let your shoulders drop. Let your jaw unclench. Place your hand over your heart and breathe slowly. You are safe to breathe. You are safe to rest.
And in His presence, still waters aren’t far away — they are already surrounding you.
That is gentle restoration.
That is invaluable grace.
